Sheer Force Engineering was engaged to provide independent structural certification services for a mixed-use residential development at 331-335 St Kilda Road, St Kilda. The proposed development comprises an eight-level apartment building above two basement levels, incorporating residential, retail and parking components.

Acting as an independent reviewer, our role was to assess the structural design documentation and calculations prepared by the project engineer and provide third-party certification in accordance with the requirements of the Victorian Building Regulations.

Independent certification requires a comprehensive review of the structural design while maintaining project programme requirements and approval timeframes.

The project involved staged certification of key structural components, including basement structures, foundations, reinforced concrete walls, columns and the primary lateral stability system. Each certification package required detailed review and clear communication with the project team to facilitate efficient project delivery.

Sheer Force Engineering undertook an independent review of the structural calculations, drawings and supporting documentation submitted by the design engineer.

The review process was structured into multiple certification stages, allowing critical construction packages to proceed while maintaining compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements. Our assessment included detailed review of the building's vertical load-bearing system, basement structures and reinforced concrete core wall stability systems.

Throughout the process, our team worked closely with the project stakeholders to provide clear feedback, respond promptly to submissions and deliver certification outcomes within the required programme timeframes.

The project successfully progressed through the certification process with Sheer Force Engineering providing independent structural review and Reg 126 certification services across multiple design stages.
